Meet Terry and Linda
Tahzi isn’t a big anonymous tour company. It’s us, Linda and Terry, personally involved in the trips we design and lead..
Where Each Day Becomes a Lifetime Memory
We’re Linda and Terry, partners in life and in travel. Tahzi Travel grew out of decades of journeys across Africa and Asia, long conversations around campfires, and a shared belief that travel should honor the people and places that welcome us.
We design safaris and cultural journeys for travelers who want more than a checklist. Our guests care about where their money goes, how wildlife is treated, and whether the experiences they have are honest, educational, and deeply human. That’s the heart of Tahzi.
Our Story
Tahzi Travel was born at the intersection of two paths:
Terry, a photographer and safari leader who has spent years chasing golden light across the Serengeti and helping guests capture moments they’ll never forget.
Linda, a gallery owner and lifelong traveler who has spent decades building relationships with artisans and communities in small villages around the world.
Together, we wanted to create travel experiences that feel personal and purposeful: small groups, handpicked guides, meaningful cultural encounters, and safari days paced so you can actually breathe it all in.
Since 2014, Terry has led safaris specializing in Tanzania, guiding guests through places like Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti. Linda brings her deep experience working directly with communities and cooperatives in South East Asia, making sure your travel has a positive impact beyond the photos.
Linda Banaszak
Curator of Culture & Community
Linda is the owner of Caravan Gallery in La Conner, Washington, a devoted mother of two, and a traveler with a lifelong love of traditional arts and crafts.
Her journey began at 19, when she volunteered with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. Living and working in a rural community opened her eyes to the importance of local craftsmanship and the impact that fair, respectful trade can have on families and villages.
Since then, Linda has:
Traveled for decades as a buyer, seeking out handcrafted goods in remote markets and small villages
Built long-term relationships with artisans and their communities across the globe
Run her own gallery since 1993, championing work that preserves cultural traditions and supports sustainable livelihoods
At Tahzi Travel, Linda brings that same care and connection to every itinerary:
She knows which visits and experiences are genuinely beneficial for local communities, not staged or exploitative.
She helps ensure your travel dollars support real people, from guides and lodge staff to women’s cooperatives and artisan groups.
She adds a thoughtful touch to each journey, from meaningful market visits to quiet moments with families and community hosts.
When she’s not traveling, you’ll find Linda in her garden, with her dogs, or with a slice of frozen cake and a good movie, usually while planning the next adventure.
Terry Divyak
Photographer & Safari Leader
Terry Divyak is the founder of Shutter Tours in Seattle and co-founder of Tahzi Travel. His love for travel began at age four, when his family moved to Brandon, England for a couple of years while his father served in the U.S. Air Force.
As a photographer, Terry’s work has been:
Featured by Pilot Guides, home of the Globetrekker TV series
Shown on television networks including Q13 FOX and and Evening Magazine on NBC
Recognized in industry publications and awarded in PDN’s World in Focus travel photography contest
But what matters most to our guests is what Terry does on safari:
He’s been leading safaris in Tanzania since 2014, specializing in creating experiences that balance wildlife excitement with time to truly observe and connect.
He uses his photographer’s eye to position the vehicle, anticipate animal behavior, and help you come home with images you’re proud of, whether you’re shooting on a phone or a pro camera.
He tells the stories behind the places: the history, the cultures, and the quiet details that most people miss as they rush from one sighting to the next.
You might meet Terry behind the camera at sunrise on the Serengeti, adjusting someone’s settings in the back row of the safari vehicle, or sharing a laugh at dinner as you relive the day’s sightings.
