13 Day Tanzania Safari
Your Dream Safari Awaits
September 30th-October 12th, 2026
$8750 per person
We’re excited to invite you on a remarkable 13-day safari in Tanzania for 2026. Since 2014, we’ve partnered with a leading Tanzanian guiding company to create journeys that are immersive, safe, and unforgettable. As with all our tours, you’ll travel with Tahzi co-founders Terry and Linda who will be there to help you capture stunning photos and make the most of every moment on this exceptional adventure.
It’s not just what you’ll see it’s what you’ll carry home.
You’ll come home with photos, yes. But more than that, you’ll come home quieter inside. More awake.
With magical mornings, wild encounters, and real human connection, this safari is designed so you don’t just do Tanzania — you feel it, and it stays with you.
Limited to 4 Guests Per Vehicle
This trip is limited to four guests per enclosed vehicle so the experience stays personal, unhurried, and truly immersive, exactly the kind of safari Tahzi is built on.
Fewer guests means more than just a better seat. It gives us the space to linger at sightings, ask questions, and learn from our guides about the landscapes and animal behavior unfolding in front of us. It also keeps our footprint lighter, allowing wildlife encounters to feel respectful and natural rather than crowded or rushed.
And yes, it’s a photographer’s dream. You’ll have room to move, time to compose, and gentle guidance from your personal professional photographer to help you create images that feel as memorable as the moments themselves, so you can share not just what you saw, but what you felt during your 13-day adventure.
(Note: In the Serengeti we may use open vehicles with stadium-style seating, and in those cases there may be up to six guests per vehicle.)
First Game Drive and Safari Walk
Embark on your first game drive in Arusha National Park after enjoying breakfast and packing a picnic lunch. Considered one of Tanzania's finest parks and often missed by the other tours companies. Arusha National Park offers unparalleled opportunities for observing wildlife in the heart of the African Wilderness. Here, you'll have the chance to catch sight of Mt. Meru, as well as Momela Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater. Prepare to be enchanted by the aerial displays of the rare Black and White Colobus Monkeys, alongside sightings of graceful Giraffes, elusive Blue Monkeys, and playful Baboons.
We will also embark on a walking tour where the local guides will share information on the wildlife and you’ll be within close proximity to the wildlife including Giraffe’s and Cape Buffalo while on foot.
It's an experience sure to leave you excited for the next 12 days on safari.
Tahzi moment: Your first day sets the pace, not chasing sightings, but learning how to watch. Most guests say this is when they feel their hurried pace finally let go.
Tarangire National Park
After enjoying breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, where you'll indulge in a delightful lunch before setting off on an afternoon game drive. Your evening will be spent at the enchanting Nyikani Camp in Tarangire, where you'll dine and retire for the night.
Tarangire National Park, the third largest in Tanzania, is renowned for its vast herds of elephants—the largest in Africa—as well as its famous tree-climbing lions and ancient Baobab Trees, steeped in fascinating history.
Immerse yourself in the true wilderness of Tarangire, where a diverse array of wildlife awaits your observation. As the day comes to a close, gather around the campfire for a relaxing sundowner, exchanging tales of your day's adventures beneath the starlit African sky.
Tarangire Day Two
By this point, you'll likely have encountered numerous majestic elephants, but the adventure doesn't end there. Keep a lookout for zebras, dik-diks, and an array of other fascinating creatures, including the impressive ostrich. As you continue to explore the park, you'll feel as though your childhood dreams of witnessing African wildlife in its natural habitat are coming true.
Your knowledgeable guide will provide insights into animal behavior, migration patterns, and life cycles, enriching your understanding of the animal kingdom.
Conclude your day with a delectable dinner and a restful overnight stay at the picturesque Kitela African Spa Lodge.
Tahzi moment: Tarangire isn’t about ticking “elephant” off a list. It’s about that slow, stunned smile you get when a whole herd crosses in front of you and nobody says a word.
Maasai Village Visit
Step into a Maasai boma (village) and be welcomed with a traditional song and jumping dance, where warriors and women invite you to experience a small glimpse of their daily life. As a guest, you’ll be welcomed into a family’s home to see how they live in their traditional manyatta (house), learn how the huts are built, and hear how cattle, family, and community shape every part of Maasai culture. Throughout your visit, you’ll have time to ask questions about their traditions, ceremonies, beadwork, marriage customs, and how modern life is influencing their way of living today.
Afterward, you’ll have the opportunity to browse beautifully crafted Maasai beadwork, jewelry, and other handmade art, with the chance to purchase directly from the families who created them. This is an important source of income for the community and a meaningful way to support their traditions. Your visit is always conducted with respect, you’re encouraged to ask thoughtful questions, and we’ll guide you on when and how to take photos in a way that honors your hosts.
Tahzi moment:This visit isn’t a performance you watch from the outside, it’s a conversation you’re invited into. The real magic often comes after the singing, when you’re sitting with someone in their manyatta, asking honest questions, and realizing how quickly “a village stop” turns into a human connection.
Banana Plantation Tour and Traditional Lunch
Join us for a relaxed plantation and village walk in Mto wa Mbu, guided by our friend and local expert, Tatu. Your visit begins with a stroll through lush banana plantations, where you’ll learn how different varieties are grown and used, for cooking, brewing, and everyday life. As you wander along shaded paths and through the village, Tatu will share stories about local traditions, farming practices, and daily life in this vibrant community. You’ll have the chance to taste banana beer, a traditional brew enjoyed at celebrations, and see first-hand how closely food, family, and land are connected here.
Midday, you’ll sit down to a traditional lunch prepared by Mama and her team, featuring fresh, home-cooked dishes made from local ingredients. After lunch, we’ll visit an artist co-op where you can browse and purchase colorful Tinga Tinga-style paintings and watch Makonde wood carvers at work, transforming raw wood into intricate sculptures. This experience is unhurried and personal, an opportunity to support local artisans, ask questions, and connect with the people who call Mto wa Mbu home.
Tahzi moment: Mto wa Mbu is one of those days that sneaks up on you. It starts as a simple walk .. bananas, stories, meeting artists .. and then suddenly you realize you’re not touring a village, you’re being welcomed into a rhythm of life.
Hadzabe Visit
Your visit will include an optional once in a lifetime visit to the Hadzabe Tribe. Here you'll have an opportunity to learn about the Hadzabe's way of life that is unchanged in the past 10,000 years.
The Hadzabe are one of Tanzania's last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes, residing primarily around Lake Eyasi in the northern part of the country. Living a lifestyle largely unchanged for thousands of years, the Hadzabe rely on hunting and gathering for their sustenance, moving frequently within their territory to follow game and forage for wild fruits and tubers. They are renowned for their exceptional tracking skills and intimate knowledge of the local flora and fauna. The Hadzabe speak a unique click language and have a rich cultural heritage, with traditions and beliefs deeply rooted in their close connection to nature. Here you will interact with them and have the opportunity to go on a hunt with the men or foraging with the Hadzabe women.
You’ll also visit the Datoga tribe, known for their metal smithing skills, and attend the once-a-month Ghorofani Market near Lake Eyasi.
Tahzi Moment: The Hadzabe are not a stop on a route , they’re hosts welcoming you into a living culture that has thrived here for more than 10,000 years. The moment that stays with most guests isn’t just the hunt or the foraging; it’s the quiet realization of how much can be learned by listening, watching, and sharing space with people who have known this land for millennia.
Cultural Center Visit
Following a leisurely breakfast, embark on a culturally enriching visit to the Iraqw Cultural Centre in Karatu. Here, you'll delve into the fascinating history of Tanzania, presented by Daniel Tewa, learning about the migration patterns of various tribes across Africa and gaining insights into the diverse heritage of Tanzanians.
Later in the day, journey to the renowned Ngorongoro Crater for a scenic lunch above one of Tanzania's premier wildlife destinations. The Ngorongoro Crater offers a thrilling viewpoint of Earth's largest unbroken and unflooded caldera.
Conclude your day with a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay at the breathtaking Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, where you'll be treated to panoramic views overlooking the majestic crater.
Tahzi moment: This day has a beautiful “wide-lens to telephoto” feeling. You start with Daniel at the Iraqw Cultural Centre and suddenly Tanzania isn’t just places on a map, it’s a living story of people moving, adapting, and belonging. Then you crest the rim of Ngorongoro and the scale hits you in your chest: ancient geology, impossible wildlife density, and that hush that falls over the group when everyone realizes they’re looking into something older than memory.
Day in the Ngorongoro Crater
Renowned as one of the seven natural wonders of the world and often referred to as "Africa's Eden," the Ngorongoro Crater offers an unparalleled wildlife experience. Here, you'll have the chance to encounter majestic rhinos, impressive prides of lions, herds of wildebeest, Cape buffalo, and zebras roaming freely across the vast expanse. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the diverse avian population, with over 400 species calling the crater home. During the mid-day, indulge in a delightful lunch amidst the breathtaking scenery of the crater floor before embarking on an exhilarating afternoon game drive. Conclude your day with dinner and a cultural show with another peaceful overnight stay at the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, ensuring you're fully immersed in the wonder of this remarkable natural sanctuary.
Tahzi Moment: The rhino sighting, the lions in the grass, the endless herds… they’re incredible, yes. But what stays with most guests is the sense of being inside Africa’s Eden, not looking at it from a distance.
Oldupai Gorge Visit and Transit to the Serengeti
Embark on an enriching journey today as your drive leads you to the iconic Oldupai (Olduvai) Gorge, renowned as one of the most significant prehistoric and archaeological sites on Earth. Made famous by the pioneering work of Louis and Mary Leakey, the gorge offers a compelling interpretive presentation, providing insight into our ancient past.
Here you will witness the exact location where Mary Leakey discovered the skull of Zinjanthropus boisei (now known as Paranthropus boiseior "Nutcracker Man"), in Oldupai Gorge. You’ll then enjoy lunch at the Leakey Camp, now a living museum.
Conclude your day with a delectable dinner and a peaceful overnight stay at the luxurious Nyikani Tented Camp, nestled in the heart of Central Serengeti.
Tahzi moment: Oldupai hits differently than almost any other stop on safari. You’re standing in a quiet gorge with wind moving through the grass, and suddenly “history” isn’t a museum word — it’s under your feet. Seeing the exact place where Mary Leakey uncovered Nutcracker Man has a way of collapsing time: you feel how small you are, how long we’ve been here, and how wild it is that this landscape holds the roots of all of us.
Serengeti Plain
Prepare to be awed by the Serengeti, where the horizon seems endless and wildlife roams freely. Spend your day tracking leopards draped in acacia trees, cheetahs scanning the plains, lions lazing in the shade, and elephants quietly moving through the grasslands. Game drives are unhurried, giving you time to watch the stories of the savanna unfold rather than rush from sighting to sighting.
As evening settles in, return to Nyikani Luxury Tented Camp in Central Serengeti, where a beautifully prepared dinner awaits, prepared under the watchful eye of a Michelin rated Chef.
The camp’s prime location in open grassland offers sweeping views and frequent wildlife right from camp. After dark, gather around the campfire beneath a sky filled with stars, drink in hand, sharing stories with fellow travelers as you listen to the sounds of the night. It’s the kind of Serengeti evening that stays with you long after you’ve gone home.
Tahzi moment: This is usually where people stop photographing for a minute and just sit there… because the point isn’t to capture it. It’s to be captured by it.
Migration in Serengeti
With a total of four days in the Serengeti, you’ll have ample time to enjoy the animals as they make their migration from the North into the Central Serengeti.
Witness the awe-inspiring spectacle of the Serengeti's vast plains teeming with thousands of animals, from wildebeest and zebras to graceful gazelles, as they embark on their nomadic journey across the landscape. Amidst this epic migration, track the iconic predators, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas, while vultures circle overhead, completing the circle of life.
This extraordinary migration epitomizes the untamed beauty of wild Africa, a vision that captivates the imagination of many. With impeccable timing, your tour allows you to immerse yourself in the enchanting magic of the African wilderness, experiencing firsthand one of Africa's natural wonders.
Conclude your day with a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stays at the Nyikani Luxury Tented Camps in the North and Central Serengeti.
